Donna is intimately familiar with the struggles involved in overcoming the effects of domestic violence and the behaviors that perpetuate it. Her personal experience of the terrifying and brutal nature of abuse and its aftermath gains her a hearing and trust with the people she serves. Her subsequent journey from despair to hope has enabled her to be an effective mentor to others who feel trapped in an abusive situation and need someone to walk with them on a new path out of darkness into light.
